National Pet Dental Health Month
February is National Pet Dental Health Month. As in past years, we are offering a 10% discount on all dental services and products for the month of February.
By the age of 3 years, about 80% of dogs and cats will have dental disease. These diseases range from tartar building up on the teeth to painful broken teeth and periodontal disease. Small breed dogs are especially prone to early and severe dental disease. We occasionally see dogs with tooth loss at 1 ½ years old due to periodontal disease.
Let's not forget that dental disease is painful. Think of the pain you were in when you had a chipped or broken tooth. What about that dental abscess? The cause of that root canal? How much did your gums hurt when you chomped down on something and stuck part of it into the gums along a tooth?
Our mouths have a tremendous number of nerve endings. Our pets have very similar innervation in their mouths. What causes us pain, causes them pain. If you have a painful tooth do you stop eating? No. Eating is necessary for us to survive. The same is true for our pets. Only very rarely do we see a pet stop eating due to mouth or dental pain. It can be very difficult to tell that they have oral pain.
Please help keep your pet healthy and comfortable. Schedule your pet's dental appointment today.

About a year ago we started carrying a new product for flea and tick prevention and treatment. This product is NexGardTM. So far it is proving to be a popular, safe and effective product. It is very nice not to have a wet spot on a dog that cannot be touched for several hours.
NexGardTM for dogs kills adult fleas before they lay eggs, and kills ticks, too. All in a delicious, soft chew that dogs love. NexGardTM soft chew is FDA-approved and proven safe for use in dogs.
It contains an ingredient, afoxolaner, that helps treat and control fleas and ticks and keeps killing for a full 30 days. So it helps provide protection you can feel good about.
We are excited to offer this product. To learn more, please see this website (http://goo.gl/i3a5fu) or contact us.
